Current City of Spokane Valley Public Works Department projects: 

Sullivan Road/Wellesley Avenue Intersection Improvements

Timeline: Summer 2022
Description: This project will replace the existing 4-way stop controlled intersection with a traffic signal. Improvements also include road widening, improved pedestrian facilities, and stormwater improvements. The project has been combined with Spokane County’s Bigelow Gulch Phase 6 to minimize disruption to the public and reduce costs.
Estimated cost: $2.3 million. The city’s contribution to the project is approximately $1.2 million with the remainder covered by Spokane County.

Sprague Avenue/Barker Road Intersection Improvements

Timeline: Summer 2022
Description: The project will replace the existing 4-way stop controlled intersection with a single lane roundabout. This project includes reconstruction of the intersection, storm drainage improvements, enhanced pedestrian facilities, lighting, and landscaping improvements.
Estimated cost: $2.3 million

Sprague Avenue Preservation (Havana to Fancher)

Timeline: Spring-Summer 2022 (May – early September)
Description: This project involves patching asphalt, grind and inlay, adding ADA ramps, ITS conduit installed on Sprague Avenue between Havana Road and Fancher Road. Traffic impacts include lane closures during the day, I-90 ramp closures and road closures at night in August.
Estimated cost: $2.5 million

Evergreen Road Preservation (Broadway to Mission)

Timeline: Spring 2022
Description: This project will grind and overlay Evergreen Road from Broadway Avenue to Mission Avenue. Project also includes pavement patching, installing ADA compliant ramps and ITS conduit.
Estimated cost: $1.4 million

Wilbur Road Sidewalk

Timeline: Summer 2022 (July – August)
Description: This project will involve installing sidewalk on the east side of Wilbur Road between Boone Avenue and Mission Avenue. Road will be closed to through traffic during construction.
Estimated cost: $800,000

Mission Avenue Over Evergreen Road - Bridge Deck Repair

Timeline: Summer 2022 (August)
Description: This project will repair the bridge deck on Mission Avenue over Evergreen Road. Traffic impacts will require reduced traffic on the bridge during construction.
Estimated cost: $260,000
