Argonne Road/Montgomery Avenue Intersection Reconstruction
Construction: July 10 through Sept. 17, 2021
Current Status - Concrete resurfacing of the intersection has been completed and all lanes are open to traffic. The project is currently suspended to allow the concrete pavement to cure prior to striping. Intermittent lane closures may occur while contractor completes additional items on the project. Final completion of project is anticipated in early November.

Project improvements
The City of Spokane Valley is planning to reconstruct the intersection of N. Argonne Road and E. Montgomery Avenue with concrete pavement, upgrade signal equipment, improve storm water facilities and update curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards. These improvements will provide a longer-lasting surface for vehicles, while improving signal efficiency, safety and stormwater quality.
Impacts
NOTE: Adjacent schematic reflects traffic configuration as of Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021.
Argonne Road will generally remain open during construction, however lane restrictions (one lane will be open each way) will result in vehicle congestion and traffic delays.
Sections of Montgomery Avenue, both east and west of the intersection, will be closed for the duration of the project.
Business near the intersection will remain open during construction. Motorists should plan to use an alternate route (see detour options in above map).
Costs
These improvements will cost about $3 million. The project is funded by a grant from the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board; a grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology; and City of Spokane Valley funds.
