BARKER ROAD BRIDGE PROJECT (over the Spokane River)
Update - July 29, 2010
The Barker Road Bridge is now open to traffic as of 5:00pm on Monday, June 14. While crews work to finalize the project, the speed limit through the work zone is 20 mph.
The Centennial Trail below the bridge is open and the river below the bridge is open.
Access to the river from the north side of the bridge remains closed while work is finishing up. Alternatives for river access include the Centennial Trail access point at Flora and Montgomery and at Harvard Road Bridge over the Spokane River.
We would like to thank the following entities for their help with this project:
- WSDOT on behalf of the Federal Highway Administration
- CH2M Hill
- Morgen & Oswood Construction
- Bridge artwork designer Sammi Perry
- and the many other subcontractors and City staff
We especially want to thank Spokane Valley community members and the driving public for their support and patience throughout the project.
