Tom Towey is a retired supermarket manager who is actively involved in a number of community organizations.  A lifelong resident of Spokane Valley, Towey also served on the City of Spokane Valley Planning Commission.  He served in the United States Navy and majored in Business at Eastern Washington University.  He was elected in November of 2009 to serve a four-year term from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2013.  Towey was selected by his colleagues on the City Council to serve as Mayor for 2010-2011.

Since 1998, Gary Schimmels has owned and operated a local locksmith business.  Schimmels attended Eastern Washington University prior to serving two years in the Army, and was a construction industry employee/owner/operator from 1964 to 1994.  He was a member of the original City Council and in November 2009, was re-elected to a four-year term through December 31, 2013.  Schimmels was selected by his colleages on the Council to serve as Deputy Mayor for 2010-2011.

Rose Dempsey (nee Fairchild) is a music director for a church in Coeur d-Alene, and Director of the Coeur d'Aleers, a 45 voice women's chorus.  She was born and raised in Coeur d'Alene, and studied organ and choral conducting both locally and at the Royal School of Church Music in England.  Dempsey is also a Colleague of the American Guild of Organists.  Married to a retired military chaplain, she returned to Spokane Valley in 1987 after living in Europe, Asia and Texas.  She was elected to serve a four-year term on the City Council for 2008 through 2011.  This is her first venture into politics.

Bill Gothmann is a Professor Emeritus who previously taught courses in electronics, computer aided design, digital, microprocessors, and aviation.  He holds a Master of Business Administration from Eastern Washington University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Whitworth College, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Gonzaga University. Gothmann was formerly a member of the Spokane Valley Planning Commission.  Gothmann was elected to the Council in November of 2005, and was subsequently re-elected in 2007 to serve a four-year term through 2011.

Dean Grafos is a local business owner, developer/builder and real estate broker who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Washington University.  A forty-year resident of Spokane Valley, Grafos is active in his church and the community.  He was elected in November of 2009 to complete a vacated term through 2011.

Brenda Grassel is a local business owner with experience in corporate outside sales.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Whitworth University, and has served on the Human Growth and Development Committee for Central Valley School District, volunteered as a cheerleading coach with the "Upwards" sports program, and iis active in her children's school and in her church.  Grassel was elected in November of 2009 to serve a four-year term from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2013.

Bob McCaslin is a retired owner of a real estate firm who also worked for a local aluminum and chemical corporation.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Economics from Washington State University.  Currently also a Washington State Senator, he was elected in November of 2009 to serve a term on the Spokane Valley City Council from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2013.
